Row Labels is run by Geary Works, a one-person business in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. This page says exactly what happens to the data you give it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

How we protect the data in your spreadsheet

The label tool itself is still being built, so today there is nowhere on this site to upload a spreadsheet at all. These are the rules it is being built to, and they bind us from the moment it opens:

• Held in memory only. Your rows exist in the memory of the server function that is drawing your PDF, for the seconds that takes. They are never written to a database, a disk, a log file, a cache, or a backup.
• Discarded as soon as the PDF is made. When the function returns, the memory holding your rows is released. There is nothing left to look up, so we could not show you your own previous labels even if you asked — you would run them again.
• Encrypted in transit. Every connection to rowlabels.com uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or better), enforced with HSTS, so your rows are encrypted between your browser and our server. We never disable certificate checking.
• Never used to train AI. Your rows are not sent to any AI or machine learning service, are not used to train or fine-tune any model, and are not used to improve the product. No AI model sees your data at all — making a label sheet is arithmetic and typography, not judgement.
• Never sold, rented, or shared. We do not sell data. There is no ad network, no data broker, and no third party who receives your rows.
• Narrow access. Only Mike Geary, the person who runs Geary Works, can reach the systems behind Row Labels, and they are protected with two-factor authentication. Because your rows are never stored, there is nothing there for him to read.

What we do keep

These are the only things that are stored, and this is all of it:

• Your email address, if you typed it into the box on the home page. It is kept in a private, access-controlled store so that we can send you one message when the tool works. It is not added to a newsletter, not sold, and not shared. Ask us to delete it and it is gone within two business days — see below.
• Anything you write to us by email. Support emails sit in a normal Google Workspace mailbox so we have a record of the conversation.
• Payment records, when the paid version exists. Payments are handled by Polar (Polar Software Inc.), which acts as the merchant of record and is the party that sees your card details — we never do. We see your email address, what you bought, and whether it is paid. Polar's own privacy policy covers their side: polar.sh/legal/privacy.
• Anonymous page counts. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. It does not follow you to other sites. Vercel also keeps short-lived server logs of the kind every web host keeps — the URL, the time, and the IP address a request came from — and deletes them automatically. Those logs never contain your rows.

Who else is involved

Row Labels runs on Vercel, which hosts the site, runs the code, and holds the email list. Email reaches you through Google Workspace or Resend, and payments will be handled by Polar. That is the whole list, and we update this page before adding to it. Each of them is a processor acting on our instructions, not an audience for your data.

Children

Row Labels is a tool for work and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.

Your choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — including the whole record of your having contacted us. Write to mike@gearyworks.com and we will do it within two business days, and tell you when it is done. There is no form and no fee, and we will not try to talk you out of it.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects what happens to your data, the date at the top changes and anyone on the email list is told before it takes effect.
